WHAT IS ACCELERATED LEARNING? |
| |
Accelerated
Learning is a winning formula
that applies many strands of research into effective
learning. Material presented combines listening,
speaking, seeing and doing. |
| |
| |
Whole
brain learning is a key aspect of the method,
it co-ordinates the functions of the left and right
hemispheres of the brain. |
| |
| |
| Relaxation
is important to create a stress-free learning
environment and conditions of ideal receptivity.
| |
Context
is important. It provides an overview,
a ‘map’ of what is to be learnt.
Visual
memory. A
key to memory (and therefore to learning) is to improve
one’s ability to visualise and to form strong visual
associations for new material. Likewise, associating words
and visual images is key. |
| |
| Music
and rhythm stimulate body reaction
and are a form of organised pattern which makes it easier
to remember. Lozanov, the Bulgarian research psychologist,
has shown that baroque music is an ideal accompaniment
to new material. |
| |
| |
| Active
involvement,
matching actions to words, allows information to
be subconsciously assimilated. |
Memory maps
are used to develop a network of connected concepts or
words that are easily recalled in your "mind’s
eye". |
| |
| Every
learner is unique, and has a preferred learning style,
visual, auditory, kinaesthetic. A learning programme
which incorporates all three preference ensures that the
information is communicated in a form that is easily absorbed
by each individual. |
| |
| Accelerated
Learning is not a magic formula;
it is an opportunity for experimenting with familiar and
less familiar learning methods.
It is an opportunity to build new learning
habits and to develop skills that may have lain dormant
for some years through lack of use or lack of awareness.

We,
at ALLS, use all the above methods.
